Hey People,

Got a bit of a weird question here but......

Just wondering is there any difference between dark tinted visors and mirror / chrome visors at night time?? are the mirror / chrome visors as dark?? The problem i have is when i ride to work in the morning it's sunny (well most of the time) and then when heading home its normally just getting dark. I currently run a dark tinted visor at the moment cause i don't like wearing sunnies under my helmet. Mad Cool

cheers,

JB

I have an iridium one that looks like gold chrome and its just as dark mate.. I was having the same problem coming back from uni and having to ride back with my hibeams on to see well enough.
I switched back to my clear one, and used sunnies even tho I dont like doing it. I figure Id rather be a bit uncomfy and alive than laying in a ditch cause I didnt see a corner coming up.

Twisted Evil I use the nolan helmets, best of both worlds, they have a clear visor with a black tint half visor of the top, getting dark flip the black visor up, plus I'm told it's illegal to ride after dark with a tint visor Laughing

Tinted visors are indeed illegal to use at night, even say so on them. You can also get in trouble for them as they dont meet australian standards, so no ticks on them.

I pretty much take the same stance as RoNNo JB. The alternative I use is some clear tight fitting specs. I keep them in the boot, and if I get caught by accident after dark with the Iridium (which by the way is slightly lighter than the tinted), I flip up the visor and let the breeze flow through with the clear sunnies on.

Yup sunnies r the way to go. I was caught in the rain with iridiums once and no street lights. (Night time). So opened the visor, rain in my eyes, closed the visor, cudn't see shit.

Sunnies and visors are the way to go IMO.

I've never been pulled over by them, but I know they're illegal @ night.
The sunnies I bought were off eBay $29 and fit perfectly over my eyes and slide right into the lid.

The Perfect compromise

Keep a set of these under your seat and you'll never screw yourself over again.

OR Even have a go at these

Yeah, they're the way to go. They've got the foam liner on the inside of the frame to keep the wind out of your eyes. I've heard that the photochromatic ones don't work under wind screens. Does anyone know if they work under clear visors?
