Modifying Bar Ends for a CBR250
Thu May 08, 2008 10:41 am by RoNNo2WheelZ
One way to sort that out is to get a set of other honda bar ends and then get a thread adapter. or drill and retap the hole to match the newer size bar end.. Measure the diameter of the end to make sure it fits your bars.. Few things you could do,
1. take off your existing bar ends and check the threads.. find another set that werent for your bike, but are the same diameter.. and check the thread sizes. you might luck out
2. If the thread sizes are different you can probably do one of 2 things
a) if the thread coming out of the bar end is bigger than that going into your bar then drill it out and tap new threads and then just screw them in
b) if the threads are smaller than what goes into your bar, you can get helicoils and use those to make the threads bigger to fit your bars..

Either way, make sure you use locktite when doing the final fit to make sure they dont come undone easily.

As for finding a set out there somewhere made to fit your bike.. A buddy of mine was searching high and low for them too and cdnt find them either

There is an outfit called Sumoto that brings in grey market CBR250's down in NSW, but I dont know if they stock what you are looking for. or how much they would charge.

Id go with the mod. A retap kit and a metal drill are inexpensive enough to pick up at supercheap auto, and will be a godsend in your toolbox later anyway. Probably take you 1 hr to mod up a set that werent made to fit your bike!

and I think that Adam has a set for sale in the parts section from his CBR1000 for $10.

Hope that helps!!
Cheers
Ronno
